While you are making the sauce cook your pasta al dente. Don't forget to add some salt to the boiling water for your pasta!
In a medium saucepan add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Grate your onion and garlic and add to the pan with the oil. I used a microplane. You know that gadget you have and never use? I use it because my kids hate chunky onion and garlic. You can also finely chop your onion and garlic. Saute for a few minutes on medium heat.
Drop the heat to a simmer. Add the milk and butter to the pan until the butter melts and the milk is warmed through. Add salt and pepper.
Add the tomato puree and continue to simmer on low heat.
Strain your pasta, reserving a little of the cooking water. Add pasta, sauce, pasta water and parmesan to bowl and mix together. Yum!
